| HOME | Model 1917 issue
enlisted tunic of thick olive drab wool, thicker and more felted than
normally encountered. Has bronze Type I "US" and Headquarters "H" collar
discs. The left sleeve displays a black wool "A" 1st Army shoulder
insignia with red and white wool Headquarters personnel distinctions in
the void, discharge chevron and a single gold braid service chevron.
Interior unlined except for the collar and reinforcement strips behind the
pocket flaps. Inside the lower right pocket is a paper contractor's tag of
a maker in Montreal, Canada dated "Jan. 26, 1918" over stamped by a New
York inspector. There is some overall moderate scattered mothing, heaviest
on the rear skirt. I have seen many French and British made US tunics over
the years but this is the only Canadian contract tunic I have ever
encountered. Rare foreign manufactured variant. Good condition. S&H-$10.00
